As we mark our 8‑year anniversary at WorkAway Solutions, I’m filled with gratitude, pride, and excitement , not just for how far we’ve come, but for who we have become together. Since opening our doors in November 2017, our mission has remained clear: to create a professional third‑space where remote workers, solopreneurs, small business owners, and students find the flexibility, community, and support they need to thrive.
From Vision to Reality
When I embarked on this journey as a woman business owner, the idea was simple: a coworking and flex‑office space in Northern Virginia that felt like more than a desk. As I balanced my role as VP of Operations at an orthopedic wellness company, and navigated the demands of being a solo mama to three incredible young men, I knew we needed a place that offered more than just four walls and WiFi. I wanted a community. I wanted connection. I wanted a space that supported ambition without sacrificing balance.
In those early months, the first members who signed up came with quiet courage: the freelancer, the virtual assistant, the remote employee needing a change of scenery, and the student prepping for a board exam. Together, we built the foundation of what WorkAway Solutions is today: flexible memberships, private and flex offices, professional meeting rooms, mail services — all anchored by the spirit of community.
Eight Years of Impact
Over the years we’ve seen so many stories blossom:
The remote worker who needed a professional presence and found it via our coworking desks.
The small business owner who scaled from a two‑person operation in a flex office to a full team downtown.
The therapist who started seeing clients part‑time after her day job, using our meeting rooms to launch her private practice.
The medical student who booked our space to study for board exams and walked out with an early career win.
The nonprofit board that held its planning retreat in our meeting room, rooted in local support and mission‑driven energy.
And yes, the entrepreneur who began right here as a member and now leases his own office offsite—but still keeps the community close.
We’ve cheered when members have moved on: relocated out of state, elevated their careers, started their second business, or simply found freedom in a better work‑life rhythm. While we miss seeing them daily, their success is our proudest reflection.
